Effects Essay

Evaluation week II:

During this week's of evaluation, we went from an essay that would focus on causes to one that focuses on effects. The topic of this week was sports from a young age, so I decided to write my essay focusing on the positive effects of sports in children.

Sports help children to grow as the best version of themselves

It is important for parents to have their children involved in activities that would help them in a positive way. Nowadays, children are so caught up with technology that playing outside with friends is not appealing anymore, they can even struggle with social interactions because the only friends they have are the ones they meet in online games. In addition to this, children can also be negatively impacted by a sedentary life giving them permanent health problems. It has been advised by multiple experts that it is vital for a kid to grow within an environment that allows him or her to experience all sorts of things, especially the activities that will help the child on his or her physical, mental and social development; activities like the practice of sports can challenge a child enough to achieve this goal.

It is no news that a body that is constantly active remains healthy. A kid is not the exception, by exercising through sports children use their muscles more frequently than the ones that don’t practice any physical activity, this makes active ones stronger along with their joints and bones. Not only that, It helps them control their body fat by burning calories faster through constant physical activity,  they’re less likely to fall into child obesity or type 2 diabetes. An active kid is a happy kid, there’s nothing that would help a child to put their energy into a good use, other than sports.

Sports are not only good for their body but also for their mental health, as long as the children are enjoying the sport that they practice, it definitely helps them to relieve any pent-up stress or as I mentioned before all that extra energy that a child usually has. In my experience when I was a kid, activities like riding a bike with my friends would bring me joy, after a long day of school and homework, going out with my friend playing and running was the best part of my day. I remember that  P.E was one of my favorite subjects because it kept me active and it allowed me to have fun with my classmates during school hours and for a kid that was a win.

Humans learn how to coexist with others by being with other human beings, it is nothing different when it comes to children, sports makes the socialization experiences easier. Especially for the ones that struggle making friends, by involving a child in a group of other children that enjoy and practice the same activities allows them to grow and learn together. They learn important values like teamwork, respect, communication, independence, and honesty; they even learn how to follow rules and instructions by experiencing sports with friends.

My parents might not have been the biggest supporters of me practicing any sports, it might have been because of the extra time that they would have taken from work to supervise or take me to different places.  However, I  do recall having a caring P.E teacher that through sports would help every member of his class to learn and grow through its practice. Now the memories are only in my head but I'm certain that just like me, there are plenty of adults that still enjoy the benefits of having an active childhood. It is our turn now as future parents to provide for the children an environment as good or even better with the help of sports.
