CAUSE ESSAY

 

This week we have focused on the Cause essay with a different type of pre-writing technique. This time we worked with the clustering technique, since the main purpose is for us to expose the causes of our topic, we used a diagram to list the causes. After we got a hand of this, we worked with the topic of ASMR, and it's comforting sensations.

 

Why is ASMR such a Hit?


Autonomous sensory meridian response, also known as ASMR, has become popular over the years on Youtube, to the point that now it has its own growing community and is constantly evolving. And the billion dollar question is, why did it get this big?. For starters, the experience begins on a series of videos where there’s a person or multiple people performing the so called “triggers” that come in many forms, from tapping, scratching or squishing sounds to whispers, giving the listener multiple experiences, that go from tingly sensations to a feeling of deep relaxation. 


 The magic occurs in the head of the listener,  there’s been studies where researchers have run scans for people having a one on one experience with the ASMR, where they have proven that it helps the brain to release neuro chemicals such as dopamine, oxytocin, endorphins and hormones that makes the person feel good or happy. It activates parts of the brain that are only triggered during moments of personal bonding, grooming and caregiving behaviors. That’s why there’s so many videos where there’s a simulation of someone giving personal attention to the audience during an intimate moment.


Among the many things that makes ASMR stay relevant for this long, It’s because it is a much healthier option for people that have anxiety or insomnia, it definitely won’t cure any type of disease, but it helps the ones affected by them to enter a state of relaxation where they can finally fall asleep. It’s affordable since the majority of the videos are on a platform that is mostly free or cheaper than sleeping pills, depending on its creator it’s suited for all ages; As long as the listener feels comfortable with the content of the video.


ASMR has become a huge phenomenon for the internet community, almost everyone has heard of it and have watched it at least once, It has evolved to the point where it has as many genres like music or art. The people that followed this phenomenon for a long time, have stayed to be part of the ASMR community for multiple reasons, from the thrill of the role playing videos, entertainment purposes, the benefits that they have found in the content, etc, every member of this group has a reason to stay and keep enjoying the experience.

  Subject-by-subject vs Point-by-point This week we learned about other methods of writing. With both methods, we take two ideas and where we compare or describe them like last weeks methods, but the development of the topics throughout the text is slightly different. With a subject-by-subject structure we take topic A and topic B, we produce our introduction and the first pargraph is in charge of focusing on topic A, once the points are made we moved on to the next paragraph that will focus only in topic B, until we get to the conlusion. On Point-by-point, we take topic A and topic B, we produce the introduction, then the first pargraph will have topic A and B together making a point but it will focus in idea 1, after we finish that point we move on to the next paragraph and with topic A and B to make another point or more under idea 2. It might feel confusing at first but practice makes perfect, and that's how I wrote this two texts: Does freedom come with a price tag? ...

Final Entry

  Final Words During this semester I have learned how to make multiple essays, by using different outline methods and multiple approaches in the development of the ideas. I'm certain that I still have a lot to learn and a lot to practice when it comes to the initial stages of a writing process, however I'm now in the right path, with methods like the Venn Diagram, the clustering method, etc. When it comes to the actual composition, methods like subject by subject or Essays using cause and effect methods are for far my favorites. The constant feedback that I received from my professor has been constructive and clear. I have learned to organize my ideas' through a pre-writing process followed by a drafting process that allows me to correct or add more to my main ideas.
