Cause & effect essays
This week we have learned about cause and effect essays, they´re the opposite of each other because you only focus on one of them. When you use the cause method, you pick a topic and throughout the text you focus on explaining what causes the phenomenom of your topic. When you use the effect method you texts focus is to describe the effects or impact of the phenomenom in your main topic. This week as an activity we made an essay for ech method:
Why do young couples divorce?
Life is hard and leaving with another person under the same roof can sometimes generate conflicts, older couples have problems as many problems as younger ones, but not everyone can deal with them the same way that others do.Nowadays it’s said that young people lack the commitment to remain in a stable relationship such as marriage. That might be true but is not the only reason why young couples get divorce every year, from lack of communication, domestic abuse to even financial struggle can be the main factors of a dysfunctional marriage that later results in a divorce.
Young couples are passionate and prone to be emotional when they have to speak to their significant other about important topics. Sometimes it is hard for them to keep their emotions in check when it’s time to discuss delicate matters and at some point get to an agreement. If the two individuals can’t compromise to a middle ground they start keeping things from each other leading to a bigger problem that makes them grow apart, if they put distance between each other this later on can even result in extramarital affairs that would ultimately break any trust that the couple might have had for each other.
If the couple fails to establish a healthy way of communication, their discussions will lead to fights that would later on escalate, losing respect for each other. If this happens the fights in the worst case scenario could even get physical in the heat of the moment. If a discussion doesn't get physical, there can still be verbal abuse or psychological abuse from one side or both towards each other, that doesn’t make it any less harmful since psychological wounds can be even harder to heal.
In different studies about %40 of people said that financial problems were one of the main reasons for the divorce, in particular the way that their ex-spouses handled money, If they get to a point where they spend too much money without consulting their partners this can lead to a potential fall out due the debt that both will be sharing because of the selfishness of the other. If that happens there can be constant fights because they can’t keep up with the bills and one of them could even blame the other for not doing enough to pay them back.
If a young couple lacks communication it’s impossible for any of them to reach any middle ground in any discussion, that later will lead to financial struggle if it wasn’t any from the start, leading to domestic abuse and at the end it’ll end up on them splitting apart through a divorce. If two people that are bound to live under the same roof can’t learn to work with each other or listen to each other, it will create a chain reaction where even small problems would have enough weight to become bigger problems where at the end the only solution appears to be the end of the relationship.
Is music good for your soul?
Humans have the ability of creation, it’s a skill that has been polished yet not perfected over the years of its evolution, from the discovery of fire, the creation of hunting tools; one of the greatest works of humanity was music. Music not only harvests the creativity within its composers but it also has a good impact in the minds of the ones that listen to it, music has more power over the life of a person than what we actually realize, and the benefits are endless.
Neurological researchers have found that music helps the brain release neurochemicals like dopamine, serotonin, cortisol and oxytocin. Dopamine is the chemical that creates the sensation of pleasure and it’s in charge of the reward centers, then we have hormones like cortisol that battles the stress throughout the body, serotonin helps with immunity and oxytocin helps to connect with other humans. Nevertheless It helps to lower anxiety and with the symptoms of depression when it’s used properly. Because it helps you to feel relaxed, at peace or even happy.
The benefits of music don’t end by just putting you in a good mood, it also improves the memory. Studies have proven that listening to music is the only activity that requires the usage of both sides of the brain at the same time. There were other studies where people that listened to classical music outperformed the ones that were working in silence or just with white noise. Music not only helps you to get into a state of meditation, it also boosts the exercise performance because it gives you energy to perform tasks like working out.
The human mind is vast and complex, it holds knowledge and it’s constantly evolving so it’s important to take good care of it. It might not be the cure for everything, however, when used properly, music can improve the quality of our lives just by listening to it. It can change our moods and mind sets for the better when we need it and help us to fight negative stages or even mental illnesses, just like the knife or the fire music is also a tool for the human to use at its best convenience.
